Chvrches – The Mother We Share

So much good music has come out of Scotland over the years with Django Django being the most recent. And so many of today’s artists have embraced this vibrant brand of synthpop that the likes of College and M83 have managed to forge a name with. But what have Chvrches done to ensure they stand out from an ever-growing crowd? In all honesty, not much but at the same time there’s not much to complain about either.

Lauren Mayberry’s vocals cut through punchy percussion work and glistening synths add depth and colour. It’s a formula that seems to be lighting up dance-floors everywhere but it’ll be interesting to see how the genre shifts and morphs in the coming years. But for now, just lose yourself for a minute or three.
