Although she’s relatively unknown outside of french-speaking nations Coeur de Pirate is slowly growing more popular with ears unfamilar with the language. The name means pirate heart and is a stage name for singer-songwriter Béatrice Martin who recently released her second album titled ‘Blonde’.
Lyrics in pop are often meaningless and tend to add very little to music and therefore, a good tune portrays its message through the tone of a sound. Of course, without understanding french, the music video explicitly fills the gaps. But having started playing piano at the age of three, it’s no surprise that Béatrice can command her music with such ease.
